In September/October we spent several weeks touring Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and South Dakota.
Our visit coincided with the complete shutdown of all National Parks in USA - thus we were unable to visit Maroon Bells (near Aspen), Arches National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone and Devil's Tower - all of which were the main reasons for our visit.
However, we were lucky to visit Rocky Mountain NP a couple of days before the shutdown, we drove to the top of spectacular Pike's Peak in Colorado, and saw some magnificent autumn scenery around Aspen and Telluride. The Grand Tetons were mostly hidden by cloud, but a tour with a local photographer helped us find some wildlife and some photogenic backroads.
